How to Create CCK Formatters

Schedule
Day:
Sunday
Timeslot:
2010 - 3:00pm - 3:50pm

The best way to template out your node content and views fields is to not have to! By creating your own CCK formatters you can take control of your field output. CCK formatters are the options you see when you go the 'Display Fields' tab for a content type, or choose the output of a views field, or as an option in Panels.

I'll show how with a minimum of PHP skills, armed only with fearlessness and a lot of copy and paste, you can make your own formatters. And I'll give you advice on what to do if you get in over your head.

I gave a session on Node Templating at Drupalcon Szeged, and now want to show why node templating in Drupal 6 is much less useful than field formatting.
